Ness City Boyfriend Charged in 2 Year Toilet Incident

I know you are on pins and needles as you follow the saga of the Ness City Kansas woman, Pam Babcock, whose phobias kept her in the bathroom of her boyfriend home so long, her butt literally became attached to the toilet set. Apparently, Ness County officials have determined her mental state didn’t have a capital city. Medical privacy laws won’t allow the release of the findings, but officials think they have enough to declare her a “dependent adult.”

This means that equally crazy boyfriend, Kory McFarren, 37, is now charged with mistreatment of a dependent adult in Ness County District Court. I’m having trouble finding any thing humorous in this massive mess. It seems that both of these people need serious help. If it comes in the form of psychiatric sessions or Scientology e-sessions, I don’t care. I don’t see how pressing charges is going to help anyone involved in this case.

Yes. There was a second bathroom in the house.
No. She didn’t sit constantly, but long enough.
Yes. She was abused as a child, but not by her boyfriend.
No. No charges are pending at this time.
Yes. She may spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair due to the damage to her leg nerves.

And finally, yes. This couple does not appear to be the sharpest tools in the shed. According to the sheriff, “The unfortunate thing is this truly is a case of two people, in my opinion, with diminished mental capacity.”

“The house was cluttered but not in shambles,” he [Sheriff Wipple] said. “The smell was overpowering - a terrible smell about the house, obviously coming from where she was at.”

McFarren, 36, told police his girlfriend, Pam Babcock, 35, had a phobia about leaving the bathroom and may not have left the bathroom in two years, although he’s unsure how long she was in there because “time just went by so quick I can’t pinpoint how long.” He said beatings she received in her childhood caused her phobia. >> Read the Full Story >>

NESS CITY, Kan. - Deputies said a woman in western Kansas sat on her boyfriend’s toilet for two years, and they’re investigating whether she was mistreated.

It appears their was no abuse or restraints involved. Her boyfriend brought her food and water and everyday asked her when she was coming out. After two years, he finally called police. She wasn’t cooperative with the cops, who had to use a pry bar to remove her and the seat together. She wasn’t cooperative with the hospital staff, who had to surgically separate her skin from the porcelain.

She sat for two years on a toilet until her butt was welded in place. No one is sure what mental illness she suffers from, yet. The real question is why it took two years before the boyfriend had enough of his girlfriend squatting at his pad.

Janis Joplin is alive and well in New Orleans

One week ago today, I was relaxing on the Moon Walk, watching the Old Man laze along.  The Vieux Carre is a lovely little town inside of New Orleans.  My daughter and I had just enjoyed some refreshing iced coffees at Cafe du Monde. It was a rare, perfect afternoon.

The sun was tempered by some clouds and a gentle breeze was creeping from the west.   I suggested that we park ourselves on a bench overlooking the river and just soak in the scenery.   The conversation was perfect.  After all, I raised her, so she agrees with me on most subjects, but she always has more intelligent things to say than her old man.

“Big brother?” interrupted our conversation.  A short, dark-haired woman had stopped at our particular bench.  She eyed my pipe.  “Big brother, you wouldn’t smoke cigarettes, too?  Could I bum a cigarette, if you do?”

“No.  I’m sorry.  Just smoke a pipe.  Can’t be of much help,” was my reply.

“OK.  God bless.”  Dejected, she adjusted the 40 ounce tucked under her arm, wrangled her backpack and moved down river.

I turned to my daughter and said, “Did we just get a blessing from Janis Joplin?”  Jenn immediately caught the reference to Joplin’s band, Big Brother and the Holding Company.  We laughed until I noticed that “Janis,” now 3 benches down river, had smoke trailing behind her matted locks.  She found her precious cigarette.

I know she wanted and/or needed some money.  I’m intelligent enough to know that the cigarette request was a rouse.  I’m also savvy enough to know, if you’re going to panhandle, don’t do it with a 40 ounce under your arm.

My prophetic utterances have proven true.  I knew there was more to this taking your shoes off at the airport thing.  One person screws it up for everyone.  Now that CNN reports this guy is an idiot, we will all be treated like bigger idiots.

I told you the truth months ago and you said I was a lunatic.  Who’s laughing now?  Well, probably all of us because it’s just that stupid.
